Position Overview:

A Survey Project Leader is tasked with the strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of survey initiatives to guarantee their completion with precision, timeliness, and adherence to budget constraints. This role encompasses the management of survey personnel, data acquisition, and the generation of comprehensive reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning:
    Engage with clients or stakeholders to ascertain project goals and specifications. Formulate project plans that encompass timelines, resource distribution, and budget forecasts. Recognize potential obstacles and devise strategies for mitigation.
  • Team Leadership:
    Recruit, train, and oversee survey teams. Delegate tasks and responsibilities among team members. Offer guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Data Acquisition:
    Select appropriate survey methodologies and tools for data gathering (e.g., questionnaires, GPS, total stations, LiDAR, etc.). Ensure that data collection processes are executed with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Establish quality control protocols to uphold data integrity and consistency. Scrutinize survey data for inaccuracies and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Data Interpretation:
    Supervise data analysis and interpretation to extract valuable insights from survey findings. Collaborate with data analysts or specialists as required.
  • Report Preparation:
    Compile detailed survey reports that articulate findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Ensure that reports are clear, precise, and compliant with client or regulatory standards.
  • Regulatory Adherence:
    Guarantee compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Secure necessary permits and approvals for survey undertakings.
  • Financial Oversight:
    Monitor project budgets and expenditures. Identify opportunities for cost savings and manage project finances effectively.
  • Client Engagement:
    Maintain consistent communication with clients or project stakeholders to provide updates and address inquiries. Respond to client requests or modifications in project scope.
  • Documentation Management:
    Ensure organized project documentation, including field notes, data records, and project files.
  • Technological Proficiency:
    Stay abreast of advancements in surveying technology and equipment. Ensure that surveying tools and software are current and operational.
  • Safety and Environmental Stewardship:
    Promote and enforce safety protocols to safeguard the well-being of survey team members and the environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., surveying, geomatics, geography, civil engineering, etc.).
  • Professional licensure or certification, as mandated by the industry or jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated experience in surveying, with a proven record of managing survey projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment, and software.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with pertinent laws, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
