Position Overview:
(Loma Linda University, Full-Time) The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive nutritional evaluations and follow-ups, collaborating closely with the healthcare team to implement effective intervention strategies aimed at enhancing patient nutritional outcomes. This role includes providing nutrition education to patients and their families, partnering with dietetic technicians, and serving as a clinical mentor to dietetic students and other healthcare professionals. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field is required.
Skills and Competencies:
Fundamental knowledge in clinical nutrition is essential. Proficiency in handling tasks requiring fine motor skills, speed, and effective communication, both written and verbal, is necessary for this role.
Key Abilities:
Ability to read and write clearly; communicate in English (Spanish proficiency preferred) with a professional demeanor; utilize necessary computer software and troubleshoot office equipment.
Capable of establishing positive and professional relationships with colleagues; assertively uphold policies; maintain composure and courtesy under pressure; lead, instruct, and collaborate effectively; accept guidance.
Competent in communicating effectively in English, both in person and via telephone; possess critical thinking skills; work independently with minimal oversight; perform basic mathematical calculations; manage multiple tasks efficiently; thrive under pressure; solve problems; organize and prioritize responsibilities; accurately recall information; and pay close attention to detail.
Able to identify colors and scents as required for patient care; hear adequately for general conversations; recognize various sounds pertinent to the workplace and patient care; and see sufficiently to read medical records and other necessary documents.
Certifications and Licenses:
Certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD or RDN) is mandatory.
