Opportunity Overview

WSP Global Inc. is actively seeking a Vice President of Bridge Engineering to enhance our Bridge Structures Team. This role involves engaging in significant projects and contributing to a dynamic organization that effectively addresses client needs and resolves complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities

As a leader in this position, you will:

  • Provide expert technical support and guidance for various infrastructure projects in the public sector, including due diligence, investigation, remediation, and construction.
  • Oversee the research, design, and development of load-bearing structures, such as bridges and associated transportation facilities.
  • Offer strategic advice to project managers and stakeholders to navigate current and future challenges, ensuring that documentation and recommendations are comprehensive and forward-thinking.
  • Generate precise reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates that adhere to industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Your Contributions

Design Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to a diverse range of structural assignments.
  • Review project submittals and shop drawings.
  • Prepare and evaluate design calculations and load ratings.
  • Conduct project-specific analyses and develop necessary technical documentation.

Analytical Duties

  • Utilize your technical expertise to devise innovative solutions for complex engineering issues.
  • Compile and assess project reports and financial documents.
  • Formulate project schedules and objectives, ensuring alignment with field staff efforts.
  • Employ relevant software tools to tackle challenging engineering problems.

Collaborative Efforts

  • Work closely with team members and other disciplines to meet client requirements.
  • Manage project tasks and lead team meetings focused on structural and project-related topics.
  • Foster client relationships and mentor junior engineers.
  • Uphold ethical standards in managing company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in engineering, with a focus on structural or civil design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license in Utah or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in infrastructure planning and project management across various design and construction initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a commitment to quality assurance and control.
  • Familiarity with relevant design software and engineering tools.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with local transportation projects.
  • Basic skills in CADD software.
