Job Description

Job Summary: Public Citizen is seeking a skilled Climate and Financial Regulation Policy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Climate Program, you will play a critical role in advancing our policy development and advocacy efforts at the intersection of climate and financial regulation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Policy Development and Advocacy: Identify emerging issues and opportunities, and help develop policy proposals to advance a swift, safe transition away from fossil fuels and promote racial, economic, and intergenerational justice.
  • Outreach and Collaboration: Represent Public Citizen in public forums, participate actively in coalitions, and help organize and lead them as needed.
  • Media and Public Education: Develop and maintain media relationships, respond to press inquiries, and serve as a spokesperson for the organization.
  • Making Things Happen: Above all, make a difference by writing papers, recruiting partners, holding meetings, working with coalitions, lobbying regulators or members of Congress, and organizing events as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of or experience in banking and finance is a plus, but not required. What's essential is an eagerness to learn and ability to learn quickly.
  • Skills: Outstanding analytical thinking, judgment, and oral and written communication skills are a must. Independence, strong impulses toward self-starting and self-finishing, and the ability to execute planned strategy while reacting to new developments are also essential.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A collaborative spirit, high energy, and enthusiasm are necessary to succeed in this role.
