Key Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a Software Engineer to assist our client in the Quantico, Virginia region. With over three decades of experience,
we have collaborated with clients to enhance vital missions worldwide, offering innovative and dependable
solutions for Intelligence, Defense, and Federal Civilian Agencies.
  • Engages in research related to the design, development, testing, and application of electronic data processing software.
  • Creates, develops, documents, tests, and troubleshoots application software and systems that incorporate logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts interdisciplinary research and partners with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and application of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Assesses computer user requirements; evaluates system capabilities to address issues regarding program intent, output needs, input data collection, programming techniques, and controls; prepares operational guidelines; designs and develops compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensures compliance with software standards.
  • Evaluates user requirements and software specifications to assess the feasibility of design within time and budget constraints.
  • Collaborates with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and gather information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, utilizing scientific analysis and mathematical models to forecast and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Oversees software system installations and monitors equipment performance to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Engages in reverse engineering activities.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, along with 8 years of software engineering development experience on host applications and/or embedded processing systems. Four additional years of software development experience may substitute for the degree.
  • A Top Secret US government security clearance is mandatory.
  • 4 years of extensive experience with Windows and Linux applications, systems, and API development.
  • 6 years of experience performing comprehensive analysis of wired and wireless network traffic using Wireshark or other compatible protocol analyzers.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols such as TCP/IP and network-based communication protocols.
  • 8 years of experience utilizing programming languages such as Bash, Python, C, C++, C#, and .NET Framework.
  • 3 years of experience with programming languages such as Qt and Meta Object Compiler (moc).
  • Proven experience in providing technical guidance to programmers to ensure adherence to program deadlines.

Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
