As a vital member of the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab within the Wargaming Division, you will be tasked with delivering Scientific and Technical Outputs by engaging in Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation to pinpoint future challenges and opportunities. Your role will involve crafting warfighting concepts and thoroughly examining options to guide capability development through the combat development process, addressing the demands of future operational landscapes.

The Information Systems Architect will play a crucial role in configuration management planning, detailing provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits. Additionally, you will support configuration planning by identifying and preserving the original configuration of requirements documentation, design documentation, software, and associated materials. Your responsibilities will include overseeing configuration change control, facilitating the change process, and ensuring that only approved and validated modifications are integrated into product documents and related software. These initiatives will bolster the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab Wargaming Division's capacity to plan, support, integrate, execute, evaluate, and report on live force experiments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design data models, data flows, interfaces, and infrastructure to fulfill the information needs of a business or mission.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive organizational data strategy that aligns with business processes and objectives.
  • Identify both internal and external data sources, devising a data management plan that aligns with the data strategy.
  • Monitor and enhance the data infrastructure.
  • Assess and determine database structural requirements by analyzing operations, applications, and programming.
  • Prepare reports on database design and architecture.
  • Advise senior leadership on critical data management matters.
  • Consult with clients and key stakeholders to assess functional requirements for Artificial Intelligence and data applications.
  • Collaborate with relevant personnel to address classified data needs and configure technical solutions for data integrity and security.
  • Provide insights on emerging database technologies and architectures.
  • Evaluate data storage needs, and prepare and implement data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Plan and manage effective storage capacity strategies.
  • Engage with systems analysts, engineers, and system owners to design applications for data management.
  • Analyze and anticipate changes in data capacity requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Security Clearance:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Secret Clearance is required at the start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Data Management
  • 5-12 years of experience in IT (aligned with DoD Cybersecurity Workforce 653)
  • DoD Cyber certification as an IAT level II is required (Any of the following: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH, CCSP)
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting systems issues

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Master's degree in Information Technology
  • Certified Data Professional (CDP)
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
