Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Administrator III to join our team at Bridgehead IT. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of our clients' server and database systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Server Administration: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Database Management: Manage, configure, and maintain SQL databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security.
  • Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot complex server and database issues to ensure system efficiency and reliability.
  • System Maintenance: Perform regular server and database maintenance and upgrades, including security updates and patches.
  • Operating System Management: Configure and manage operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and virtual environments.
  • Security Measures: Implement and maintain comprehensive system and database security measures, including antivirus, firewalls, and access controls.
  • Documentation: Document server and database configurations, changes, and procedures to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Team Support: Provide support and mentorship to junior system administrators and other IT staff.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Critical Issue Resolution: Manage and resolve critical server and database-related issues through a ticketing system.
  • Professional Development: Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in server administration and SQL database management.
  • Certification: Demonstrate a strong drive to achieve professional certifications to further develop expertise and career growth.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in server administration with SQL database management experience.
  • Skills: Extensive knowledge of SQL databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Strong experience with server operating systems, including Windows and Linux. Proficiency with advanced server hardware and software. In-depth understanding of server and database security principles and best practices. Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced IT environment and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
