Position Overview

The Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting the UNIX/Linux environment. This includes the provisioning of UNIX/Linux systems, applying necessary patches, and performing upgrades on both physical and virtual servers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Management: Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities to ensure system integrity.
  • SAN Storage Support: Provide support for the SAN Storage Environment (Pure) across multiple on-premises locations utilizing fiber channel connectivity.
  • Backup Solutions: Experience with UNIX/Linux-based backup solutions is advantageous, particularly with Commvault.
  • Load Balancer Experience: Familiarity with load balancers, specifically A10 Networks, is a plus.
  • Process Improvement: Work both independently and collaboratively to suggest, develop, and implement new processes and procedural enhancements. Communicate effectively with end users and collaborate with team members to resolve issues.
  • Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain servers and hosted applications within a Linux environment.
  • Health Monitoring: Monitor the health of Linux servers through both automated and manual processes.
  • OS Patching: Conduct monthly Linux OS patching and updates, including applying critical out-of-band patches.
  • Documentation: Maintain proper documentation and adhere to established procedures for change control, server deployment, and other operational processes.
  • Compliance: Follow required policies and procedures to uphold compliance and security standards.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field is required. Candidates without a degree must possess a minimum of 6 years of professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of strong experience in administering and supporting Linux operating systems and hosted applications, including monitoring health, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance and updates.
  • A minimum of 2 years of Linux Server administration experience in both physical and virtual enterprise environments.
  • Proficient in Linux scripting languages and skilled in installing, configuring, and maintaining OS services such as Bind, Apache, MySQL, Nginx, and other databases. Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet is a plus.
  • Experience with Pure SAN or other SAN solutions is advantageous. Technical certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or VMware certifications are also beneficial.
  • A valid and clear driver's license is required.
