Position Summary: We are looking for a qualified Safety Engineer to enhance our commitment to safety and compliance at First Quality. This role is crucial in developing, implementing, and overseeing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and programs to foster a secure and compliant workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a proactive EHS culture among all employees, promoting safety as a core value.
  • Facilitate and participate in EHS meetings and training sessions to enhance awareness and compliance.
  • Develop and enforce EHS policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Act as a resource for EHS-related technical and regulatory issues, providing innovative solutions.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in EHS practices and policies.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with team members, vendors, and clients.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all employees receive necessary EHS training and maintain accurate training records.
  • Provide expertise in designing controls for hazardous conditions, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Engage with employees to foster open communication and trust regarding safety practices.
  • Communicate EHS policies and standards to all visitors, including contractors and vendors.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling and analyze results to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in EHS regulations and standards at all levels.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Safety Management Systems.
  • Support Worker's Compensation claims and the Return-to-Work program for injured employees.
  • Interpret and apply EHS codes and standards effectively.
  • Perform regular EHS inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Administer drug and alcohol testing programs in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Implement risk management processes to control hazards and prevent injuries.
  • Demonstrate integrity and uphold company culture in all professional interactions.
  • Maintain and utilize company data systems to manage EHS compliance effectively.
  • Ensure safety data sheets are current and accessible.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an EHS role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and proficiency in MS Office and other software.
  • Critical thinking and project management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Experience in developing Safety Management Systems is preferred.
  • Professional EHS certifications are a plus.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
