The Manufacturing Operations Leader is responsible for overseeing the production and warehouse teams in a dynamic 24/7 operational setting. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of the production schedule alongside daily inbound, outbound, and warehouse transfer shipments. The Operations Manager will ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and safety standards while maintaining the plant's operational budget.
Key Responsibilities- Direct the manufacturing processes and shipping/warehouse operations to guarantee the consistent production of top-quality products and the effective execution of daily shipping and receiving schedules in a safe work environment.
- Ensure that all production and warehouse personnel adhere to the company's standards for safety, quality, efficiency, and cleanliness.
- Recruit and provide ongoing training for employees while managing personnel matters related to attendance, vacation scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
- Staff all departments effectively to meet production and shipping/receiving schedule requirements.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives within production and warehouse operations.
- Lead the team of Shift Supervisors, Production Engineers, and Warehouse Managers.
- Coordinate production and shipping/receiving schedules with the Supply Chain team to ensure timely and quality fulfillment of customer orders.
- Work with Maintenance to coordinate service times and maintain all equipment for optimal performance.
- Collaborate with the Technical Service & Quality Manager to identify and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis.
- Monitor workflow, adjust schedules to accommodate unforeseen conditions, and optimize the use of labor, tools, and equipment.
- Address key issues promptly through root cause identification and resolution to prevent recurrence.
- Continuously enhance and advance the employee training program, ensuring consistent training for all production and warehouse team members.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISO certification requirements within manufacturing systems.
- Maintain operational expertise and responsiveness to both internal and external customers.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering) or Chemistry with over 5 years of experience in chemical or paper plant manufacturing in a management role.
- Strong understanding of Process Safety Management in chemical plant operations.
- Knowledge of chemistry, chemical process techniques, and basic mechanical equipment operation.
- Familiarity with batch manufacturing processes and utilities in a chemical plant.
- Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to drive significant organizational change.
- Experience with process control (PLC) and data analysis is preferred.
- Multi-functional experience in manufacturing, technical, and business areas is advantageous.
- Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Background in operations, maintenance, and basic tools and equipment is beneficial.
- Knowledge of process design and equipment is a plus.
- Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a strong team player.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
