Job Overview

SUMMARY:

This role is essential for the design, implementation, and enhancement of production methodologies aimed at improving efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The Process Engineer will significantly contribute to optimizing manufacturing operations while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and Nichiha standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process Assessment and Enhancement: Evaluate and analyze production workflows and equipment effectiveness. Lead or collaborate on initiatives focused on minimizing losses and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), including performance metrics, yield rates, capacity, and adherence to schedules.
  • Data Evaluation: Analyze existing data to facilitate informed decision-making for process enhancements.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with the Senior Maintenance Manager to design, install, and commission new production units and control systems, following the Management of Change protocol. Supervise equipment modifications and upgrades, troubleshoot processes, and ensure successful operational launches.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive reports, flowcharts, and diagrams to document processes and modifications.
  • Budget and Time Management: Effectively oversee project budgets and timelines.
  • Process Optimization and Training: Work alongside plant management to enhance operational processes. Develop and conduct training sessions on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for staff.
  • Scale-Up Support: Assist in transitioning small-scale processes to large-scale commercial operations.
  • Safety and Operational Efficiency: Collaborate with the Plant Manager, EH&S Manager, and Production Manager to improve plant efficiency, output, and safety. Ensure processes align with quality, rate, and output requirements to meet supply demands.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Guarantee compliance with all operational and process regulations. Evaluate the safety and environmental impact of plant processes and future capital projects.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects at various stages, applying DMAIC and Six Sigma methodologies for root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Enhancement: Employ Six Sigma principles to tackle quality challenges and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· 3-5 years of experience as a Process Engineer required

· Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred

· Proficiency in statistical methods and statistical software tools

· Proven track record in process improvement

· Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

· Experience in Process and Project Management preferred

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

· Ability to comprehend and utilize manufacturing processes, including machine setup and operation

· Capacity to perform in a high-pressure environment

· Skilled in multitasking and prioritization

· Team-oriented with strong collaborative skills

SAFETY:

· Comprehend and adhere to all safety protocols

· Current on all safety training requirements

· Utilize all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required

· Understand Lock Out Tag Out procedures for designated areas

· Familiarity with Confined Space and Hot Work protocols

· Execute duties in accordance with OSHA guidelines, policies, and procedures

· Complete General Plant Safety Training within the initial weeks of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs.

· Must be able to stand, twist, bend, reach, and stoop for extended periods.

· Must be able to work in a dusty and noisy environment.

· Must be able to work in a plant environment with extreme seasonal temperatures.
