Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at YWCA Central Massachusetts. As a Pre K Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with the developmental and culturally sensitive philosophy of the Center, ensuring compliance with NAEYC standards, Department of Early Education and Care, QRIS requirements, and health and safety regulations.
  • Child Supervision: Supervise children in play and structured activities, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with parents through regular updates on their child's progress, participate in parent activities as needed, and collaborate with the Lead Teacher to support families in need of intervention.
  • Assessment and Record-Keeping: Assist the Lead Teacher in conducting Ages in Stages quarterly assessments using the Teaching Strategies Gold tool and maintaining accurate classroom records as per licensing and QRIS requirements.
  • Professional Development: Attend scheduled staff meetings, maintain Health and Safety, First Aid, and CPR certification, and complete all required hours of training each year as per DEEC and QRIS guidelines.
  • Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP): Develop and follow an annual IPDP to enhance professional growth and development.
  • Environmental Rating Scales: Complete Environmental Rating Scales yearly with a classroom action plan to ensure a high-quality learning environment.
  • NAEYC Classroom Portfolios: Maintain and update NAEYC classroom portfolios to showcase the program's achievements.
  • EEC Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry: Maintain EEC Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Student/Teacher Ratios: Maintain and ensure student/teacher ratios at all times to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
Qualifications
  • DEEC Preschool Teacher Certification: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education: Preferred or enrolled in an Early Childhood Education degree program
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to relate with co-workers and parents in a cooperative and positive manner
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to work with families and children of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Technical Skills: Solid computer skills
