Job Summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Corporate Director of Nursing Performance and Standards Innovation. This position will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic plans to enhance nursing practice and clinical standards, with a focus on innovation and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance nursing practice and clinical standards, with a focus on innovation and process improvement.
    • Lead and inspire a team of nursing professionals to achieve organizational goals related to patient care quality and safety.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate innovative quality initiatives with broader organizational strategies.
  • Quality Improvement and Innovation
    • Design, implement, and evaluate innovative quality improvement programs to enhance patient outcomes.
    • Utilize cutting-edge practices and data analytics to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted interventions.
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to nursing practice and patient safety, emphasizing innovative approaches to measurement.
  • Clinical Standards Development
    • Develop, update, and maintain clinical standards and protocols in line with best practices, regulatory requirements, and innovative practices.
    • Ensure consistent application of clinical standards across all nursing units and departments.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate clinical standards into practice, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Innovation in Quality Outcomes Measurement
    • Lead efforts to develop and implement innovative methods for measuring quality outcomes in nursing practice.
    • Use advanced data analytics and technology to track and analyze quality outcomes.
    • Implement innovative tools and methodologies to ensure accurate and meaningful measurement of patient care quality.
  • Process Improvement
    • Drive process improvement initiatives across the organization to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of nursing care delivery.
    • Utilize Human Centered Design, Lean, Six Sigma, and other appropriate process improvement methodologies to streamline workflows and reduce variability in care delivery.
    • Engage clinical nurses in identifying and implementing process improvements to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Education and Training
    • Develop and oversee educational programs and training initiatives to ensure clinical nurses are proficient in current standards, quality improvement practices, and innovative methodologies.
    • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.
    • Ensure compliance with continuing education and certification requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation
    • Ensure nursing practices comply with all relevant regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
    • Prepare for and lead accreditation and regulatory inspections and audits.
    • Implement corrective action plans to address any deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and external stakeholders on matters related to nursing quality and clinical standards.
    • Represent the organization at professional conferences, workshops, and other industry events.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
    • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all performance initiatives.
    • Ensure that programs and opportunities for growth are reflective of equitable care.
    • Foster an inclusive environment that supports the diverse needs and aspirations of patients, families, and clinical nurses.
    Qualifications
    • Education
      • Master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field.
      • Doctorate strongly preferred.
    • Experience
      • Minimum of 10 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on quality improvement, process effectiveness improvement, and clinical standards management.
    • Certification
      • Current RN license and certification in nursing quality (e.g., CPHQ) or related specialty preferred.
    • Skills
      • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
      • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Proficiency in digital integration, data analysis, quality improvement methodologies, and innovative practices.
      • Ability to drive change and foster a culture of innovation.
