About the Role:

As the Sanitation Operations Leader, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously enhancing sanitation programs, policies, and key performance indicators for the facility.

You will engage with all levels of the plant in communication, training, and ensuring compliance with federally mandated regulations, including FDA and EPA standards.

The Sanitation Operations Leader will report to the Quality and Food Safety Manager.

Main Responsibilities:
Oversee the comprehensive sanitation program direction and outcomes for the plant, warehouse, and surrounding grounds.
Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations while upholding company policies and procedures.
Guarantee compliance with all food safety protocols and maintain the plant in optimal sanitary condition at all times, including allergen and pest control measures.
Collaborate with the plant management team to address sanitation challenges that require cross-functional support.

Assess facility sanitary conditions both visually and analytically, evaluate risks based on food safety and public health principles, and prioritize corrective actions.

Identify and troubleshoot persistent sanitation issues to determine deficiencies in the sanitation program or facility/equipment design.
Establish the framework for ongoing sanitation verification activities and validation testing.
Maintain and update the master cleaning schedule for the plant in accordance with GMP and Ferrero guidelines.
Develop and document detailed cleanup procedures and SSOPs for all plant equipment.
Conduct audits to ensure consistent application and execution of SSOPs and all related sanitation practices.
Perform cleanup inspections and validations of sanitation and allergen cleanings using swabs and/or samples collected for analysis.
Serve as a member of the HACCP Team (a multidisciplinary management committee focused on food safety in the plant).
Coordinate and prepare the plant for internal and third-party audits.

Collaborate with plant and corporate engineering, equipment manufacturers, and chemical suppliers to effectively implement CIP and COP systems where applicable.

Direct Pest Control Operators and Dust Control Operators to ensure compliance with all regulations (including Pesticides and Clean Air Act-Title V, etc.).
Ensure that all safety requirements related to sanitation are met, including proper chemical storage, MSDS, PPEs, and procedures.
Contribute to and may coordinate mandated plant-wide Food Safety and GMP training for all employees in the plant.

Who We Are Looking For:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent experience in sanitation and leadership.
Ability to understand and apply basic microbiological principles, with in-depth knowledge of foodborne pathogens.
Familiarity with HACCP and sanitation principles.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant food safety/sanitation, with supervisory experience required.
Thorough knowledge and experience with various sanitizing applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of food laws, U.S. and international standards and regulations.
Experience working with both COP and CIP operations.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
