Job Overview

Position: Systems Engineer/ Architect

The Systems Engineer/ Architect will play a pivotal role in the design and architecture for the transition of an existing operational system into a comprehensive enterprise framework. This position involves collaboration within a focused team to evaluate and document the current systems architecture (both physical and virtual) while formulating the future architecture to align with enterprise policies and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with team members, clients, and stakeholders, including technical experts, to define and manage tier 3 support requirements.
  • Assess system performance and functional specifications to create, sustain, and improve the system architecture for a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Establish system management protocols, software deployment strategies, and system update tools to streamline system administration.
  • Compile and maintain comprehensive documentation of system architecture, configurations, and change requests using system management tools to uphold system configuration standards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid DOD TS Clearance.
  • Must have IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+ with CE).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a systems engineering role.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • System architecture and design within high availability Windows environments.
  • Architecting, installing, configuring, and managing virtualization platforms (e.g., ESXi, Hyper-V, VMWare).
  • Administering Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Windows Deployment Services (WDS), and Active Directory (AD).
  • Utilizing IT automation tools such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and SolarWinds.
  • Managing Red Hat, CentOS, SUSE, or other Linux environments.
  • Scripting for system administration tasks using Windows PowerShell, Python, etc.
  • Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or later (including installation, backups, and high availability).
  • Configuring and managing Windows domains (Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.).
  • Citrix VDI and applying STIGs/SCAP Compliance Checker.
