Job Overview

Position: Systems Engineer/ Architect

The Systems Engineer/ Architect will play a pivotal role in the strategic design and architecture for transitioning an existing operational system into a comprehensive enterprise framework. This position involves collaboration within a dedicated team to evaluate and document the current systems architecture (both physical and virtual) while crafting a future state architecture that aligns with enterprise policies and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with team members, clients, and mission stakeholders, along with technical experts, to define and manage tier 3 support requirements.
  • Assess system performance and functional specifications to develop, maintain, and enhance the architecture of a large-scale enterprise system.
  • Establish system management protocols, software deployment strategies, and update tool suites to streamline system administration processes.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation of system architecture, configurations, and change requests, utilizing system management tools to uphold configuration baselines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a finalized DOD TS Clearance.
  • Must have IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+ w/ CE).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a systems engineering role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Designing and architecting systems in high availability Windows environments.
  • Setting up, configuring, and managing virtualization platforms (e.g., ESXi, Hyper-V, VMWare).
  • Managing Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Windows Deployment Services (WDS), and Active Directory (AD).
  • Utilizing IT automation tools such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and SolarWinds.
  • Administering Linux environments such as Red Hat, CentOS, or SUSE.
  • Developing scripts for system administration tasks using Windows PowerShell, Python, etc.
  • Managing Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or later, including installation, backups, and high availability configurations.
  • Configuring and managing Windows domains, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Implementing Citrix VDI and applying STIGs/SCAP Compliance Checker.
