Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading strategic planning efforts and coordinating annual publications and other internal strategic planning activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and monitoring organizational performance measures, as well as developing written engagement strategies and planning guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a continuous, independent study and research program to identify and develop a detailed understanding of national security issues, risks, and initiatives critical to success.
  • Identify gaps or redundancies in OIG oversight coverage based on independent research and input from senior leaders and oversight organizations.
  • Lead complex projects that integrate efforts to improve agency performance and effectiveness of organizational planning to achieve organizational goals.
  • Advise working groups and subordinates to share best practices, ensure projects stay within scope and schedule, and collaborate with management to implement recommendations.
  • Persuade others to recognize the long-term strategic value of initiatives; provide alternative solutions; and effectively present recommendations, comply with applicable standards, and consider all relevant factors.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position has been designated as security designation level Special Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • You may be required to complete a financial disclosure (OGE-450).
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the Federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
Qualifications
  • Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-15 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.
  • Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service.
  • Proficient in use of IT applications to effectively present information, analyze data, and manage projects.
Additional Information
  • Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the Federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.
