Job Overview

Reporting To: Executive Housekeeper

Supervising: Housekeeping Utility Staff, Laundry Personnel, Seamstress, Room Attendants

Objective: To oversee the cleaning staff's activities, ensuring that hotel rooms are maintained in a clean, orderly, and appealing manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Receives and organizes the list of vacant rooms requiring immediate cleaning and identifies upcoming checkouts to allocate work assignments efficiently. Communicates with management and front desk personnel regarding room readiness for guests.
  2. Delegates tasks to staff and evaluates their work to ensure compliance with established cleanliness standards. Acknowledges and rewards employees who exceed guest expectations through their initiative.
  3. Monitors inventory levels of cleaning supplies and linens to guarantee sufficient stock. Distributes necessary supplies and equipment to team members.
  4. Addresses and resolves issues related to housekeeping services and equipment, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  5. Inspects guest rooms, hallways, and public areas to assess the need for repairs or replacement of furnishings and equipment, providing recommendations to management. Ensures that guest rooms are secure and that key control procedures are strictly followed by housekeeping personnel.
  6. Conducts interviews for potential hires, selects new staff, and recommends promotions, transfers, or terminations. Facilitates orientation and ongoing training for new and existing employees to communicate company policies and housekeeping procedures, as well as equipment usage and maintenance.
  7. Participates in training sessions to enhance housekeeping techniques and supervisory skills.
  8. Maintains records related to work assignments, personnel actions, and timekeeping, and prepares regular reports. May compile data on room occupancy, payroll, and departmental expenses.
  9. Engages in regular meetings with other department heads to review company policies, address guest complaints, and propose service improvements for more efficient operations.
  10. Assists in managing the housekeeping department's budget and controlling expenses.
  11. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  1. Utilize common sense and understanding to execute instructions provided in various formats. Address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  2. Comprehend and interpret instructions, safety regulations, etc. Prepare reports with appropriate formatting, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, employing all parts of speech. Communicate effectively in English with clarity and a well-modulated voice.
  3. Assess the timing, location, and sequence of operations or actions to be undertaken. Determine or clarify work procedures for staff, assigning specific responsibilities while fostering positive relationships and promoting efficiency.
Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within a commercial housekeeping environment, along with 2 years of hands-on experience in all facets of the Housekeeping Department; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
