Position Summary: The role involves overseeing the cleaning staff to ensure that hotel rooms are maintained in a clean, orderly, and appealing manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Gather and prioritize a list of vacant rooms for immediate cleaning, as well as anticipated checkouts, to allocate work assignments effectively. Communicate with management and front desk personnel regarding room readiness for guests.
  2. Delegate tasks to staff and conduct inspections to ensure adherence to cleanliness standards. Recognize and reward employees who demonstrate initiative in exceeding guest expectations.
  3. Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and linens to guarantee sufficient stock. Distribute necessary supplies and equipment to team members.
  4. Address and resolve any issues related to housekeeping services and equipment, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  5. Assess guest rooms, hallways, and public areas to identify maintenance needs or furniture replacements, providing recommendations to management. Ensure that guest rooms are secure and that key control protocols are followed by housekeeping personnel.
  6. Screen potential job candidates, onboard new hires, and suggest promotions, transfers, or terminations. Facilitate orientation and ongoing training for staff to communicate company policies and housekeeping procedures, as well as demonstrate equipment usage and maintenance.
  7. Participate in training sessions to refine housekeeping methods and enhance leadership capabilities.
  8. Maintain records of work assignments, personnel actions, and timekeeping, preparing regular reports as necessary. May compile reports on room occupancy, payroll, and departmental expenditures.
  9. Engage in regular meetings with other department leaders to review company policies, address guest feedback, and propose improvements for service efficiency.
  10. Assist in managing departmental expenses effectively.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  1. Utilize common sense to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions. Resolve issues involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  2. Comprehend and interpret instructions and safety guidelines. Produce reports with appropriate formatting, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, utilizing all parts of speech. Communicate clearly in English with a well-modulated voice.
  3. Assess the timing, location, and sequence of operations or actions required. Interpret work procedures for staff, assign specific responsibilities, foster positive relationships, and promote operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within a commercial housekeeping environment, alongside 2 years of hands-on experience in all facets of the Housekeeping Department; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
