Metro Transit Division:
As one of the largest transit systems in the nation, Metro Transit employs over 3,000 individuals and operates an integrated network of buses, light rail, and commuter trains. Our Bus Maintenance Division is crucial in ensuring the availability of safe, clean, and reliable buses, managing a fleet of approximately 800 buses along with various support vehicles and equipment.


Role Overview:
We are seeking multiple Bus Maintenance Supervisors to join our team. This role involves overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities during designated shifts, providing training in various mechanical disciplines, and fostering a respectful workplace environment among a diverse group of employees.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise maintenance work to ensure operational readiness of vehicles.
  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
  • Assign and inspect the work of mechanical personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and workplace policies.
  • Administer employee discipline and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Facilitate employee training in mechanical systems and safety protocols.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a combination of experience in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, along with supervisory experience. Educational qualifications may include:

  • High school diploma/GED with eight years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's degree with six years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with four years of experience.

Additional Skills:
Experience in training employees, diagnosing mechanical systems, and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications will be advantageous. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Work Environment:
This position involves a mix of office and outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions and mechanical equipment. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel and exposure to noise and other environmental factors.
