Position Overview

The Maintenance Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance strategies and protocols of the designated facility to guarantee efficient and timely production. This role collaborates with other management personnel to enhance the effectiveness of preventative maintenance and the installation of new machinery. The supervisor will also manage facility design and inspection, as well as equipment repair and installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance, training, and supervision to the Maintenance Team in their tasks. Plan, estimate, and oversee maintenance-related activities while supporting maintenance personnel.
  • Manage facility design and inspection, equipment repair, and installation. Recommend and develop tools and fixtures to enhance quality and productivity. Assess problematic systems or facilities and determine necessary installation or repair services.
  • Train and mentor Technicians during the introduction of new production items. Assist in providing essential training to Maintenance staff to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Lead various technicians in their work. This includes ensuring production lines operate smoothly, covering employee breaks as needed, troubleshooting minor equipment issues, and providing tracked information (counts, scrap, etc.).
  • Measure preventative maintenance rates and utilization times with appropriate documentation for management. Maintain the Maintenance Work Order system and generate work orders for all maintenance requests related to machinery, facilities, or equipment.
  • Act as the primary contact for maintaining an organized inventory of parts and tools, and collaborate with external vendors to obtain competitive bids for equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Ensure the assigned work group completes all projects, assignments, and duties as directed. Communicate and coordinate efforts with team members and all organizational levels. Foster optimal employee performance and development.
  • Promote a culture of safety by conducting safety audits to ensure proper use and condition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), machinery, and safeguards. Train individuals on safety protocols and lead investigations of near misses/incidents.
  • Drive employee performance and development through effective coaching and counseling. Champion idea generation within the department by supporting team members in generating and implementing ideas.
  • Evaluate performance and escalate needs through effective management and coaching of team members in relation to performance meetings and daily reports. Strive for improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

Experience Requirements
  • Associate Degree or 8 years of relevant maintenance experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance in lieu of a degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant maintenance experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including chemical processing and bottling automation processes.
  • 3 to 5 years of leadership experience with required skills such as initiative, teamwork, and idea promotion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Advanced PLC programming, robotics, and electrical certifications preferred.
