Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Implementation Legal Counsel Vice President to join our team at Barclays. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in overseeing our response to new regulations affecting the firm, managing risk and challenges, and identifying opportunities arising from regulatory change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Develop and implement best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance, ensuring that our financial services regulation activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Legal Advice and Support: Provide legal advice and support to the business on regulatory affairs, including regulatory compliance, risk management, and transactional matters.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in the Legal department's representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to regulatory matters, such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
  • Legislative Review and Compliance: Review relevant legislation and regulation and create and review legal documents, where applicable, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the bank's operations.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on applicable legal and regulatory requirements related to the bank's operations.
  • Proactive Identification and Communication: Proactively identify, communicate, and provide legal advice on applicable laws, rules, and regulations (LRRs), keeping up to date with regards to changes to LRRs in the relevant coverage area.

  • Relationship Building and Partnership: Seek out, build, and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: J.D. or equivalent degree and New York state bar admission, with 5+ years of experience at a nationally recognized law firm and/or in-house at a financial institution.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Ample written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
