Position Overview:
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for an Assistant General Counsel specializing in Supply Chain Management and Information Technology. This role is pivotal in delivering independent, proficient, and timely legal counsel to NYU Langone Health concerning Supply Chain Management (SCM) and the Medical Center's Information Technology Department (MCIT). The Assistant General Counsel will collaborate closely with the Associate General Counsel & Director (Supply Chain, MCIT, and Pharmacy) to oversee the contracting processes and legal responsibilities for the NYU Langone Health System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal evaluations, provide counsel, and draft agreements related to SCM for the procurement of goods and services, ensuring alignment with business objectives, policies, and regulatory standards.
- Engage in legal assessments, offer guidance, and draft software licenses, SAAS, and technology agreements for MCIT, ensuring compliance with business terms and regulatory frameworks.
- Advise on the implications of the anti-kickback statute and related regulations in contractual agreements.
- Exhibit an understanding of the organization's core values and integrate them into daily responsibilities.
- Offer legal insights to various departments within the Health System regarding contract matters and interpretations as needed.
- Review and amend policies, procedures, and training materials as required.
- Create and update templates while supporting the establishment of a library of contract provisions for service and goods procurement.
- Develop educational materials and deliver legal training to designated clients and contracting personnel.
- Monitor daily tasks and update the contract management system (e.g., ONIT), generating reports as necessary.
- Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and judicial decisions impacting contracts in healthcare and biomedical research.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess admission to the NY Bar and have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in comprehensive business contracting, including expertise in system and software licensing as well as IT contracts. Experience within healthcare or academic medical environments is highly desirable, along with a solid understanding of the anti-kickback statute and its application in contract matters. Strong oral and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, are essential.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range in compliance with New York state law regarding salary transparency in job advertisements. The salary range for this position is $213,000 to $252,000 annually. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including experience, specialty, education, and institutional needs. The stated salary range does not encompass bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
