Job Overview

Position Summary

This role is responsible for the procurement of raw materials and specialized services. The volume of items purchased can be significant, especially for ongoing manufacturing contracts. The individual will collaborate with stakeholders to define specifications for materials and explore new supply sources. The primary focus is to ensure a continuous supply chain to support manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchasing process for materials (including metals, packaging, chemicals, and manufacturing supplies) from order placement to delivery, ensuring production continuity.
  • Oversee purchase order processing, expedite orders, and handle daily procurement activities.
  • Assist in the enhancement of procurement systems and processes.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ascertain business needs.
  • Request necessary documentation from suppliers to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply.
  • Focus on results and problem-solving in a challenging supply chain context.
  • Analyze expenditure data and collaborate with the Finance team to identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, regularly report on key performance indicators, and propose improvement strategies.

Qualifications:

Skills and Knowledge:

Engage in complex assignments requiring significant judgment, analysis, and initiative for problem resolution and recommendations. Act as a liaison with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience in balancing strategic and tactical business initiatives is essential.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and proprietary software), with advanced presentation capabilities and spreadsheet management. Familiarity with ERP systems (such as Infor, SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics) is preferred.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience in supply chain or business. Certification as a Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Professional in Distribution and Warehousing (CPDW) is advantageous but not mandatory.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and must meet age requirements in accordance with regulations regarding the handling of alcohol.
