Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee capital initiatives (from budget approval to project completion) with values exceeding $1MM.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to the engineering standards established by NEC/NFPA/IEEE guidelines.
  • Supervise the efforts of designers, maintenance teams, and external contractors during construction phases, including planned and unplanned electrical power outages, while resolving operational challenges.
  • Manage recovery from electrical outages, providing guidance on failure analysis; lead problem-solving teams to identify root causes and implement solutions, coordinating support from various resources.
  • Offer leadership, technical guidance, installation assistance, and/or commissioning support for significant capital projects that enhance energy efficiency or affect the plant's distribution network.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency projects and collaborate with local utility providers to secure available rebates.
  • Conduct arc flash and short circuit analyses as mandated by DPW standards, addressing any issues identified through capital or operational measures as necessary.
  • While this role primarily operates during first shift hours, the 24/7 manufacturing environment may require occasional off-shift hours and/or weekend support for operations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, skilled in defining scope, specifications, and technical designs.
  • Fundamental understanding of Medium Voltage Power Distribution.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of experience in a manufacturing context.
  • At least 7 years of experience demonstrating proficiency in executing power distribution projects.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in analyzing power modeling software, including arc flash and short circuit studies.
  • Technical knowledge in switchgear, MCCs, transfer switches, switch yards, generator sets, UPS, transformers, power control systems, distribution systems, and coordination of protective devices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
