This role presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer within Arconic's Rolled Products North America (RPNA) Manufacturing, Technology, and Engineering (MTE) team. The successful candidate will deliver engineering expertise and leadership in managing high voltage electrical drives and large AC/DC motors utilized throughout Arconic's rolling operations. Key responsibilities will encompass project management, safety initiatives, maintenance strategies for large motor equipment, and providing engineering support to maintenance and production teams across various operational areas.

The incumbent will also be tasked with delivering electrical engineering support, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical solutions to persistent design and application challenges, alongside maintenance and engineering training and documentation. Furthermore, this role involves the development, management, and execution of capital projects, as well as overseeing major repairs and maintenance activities while offering electrical engineering assistance across all manufacturing sectors.

The MTE group is pivotal in enhancing equipment reliability, driving process improvements, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting automation and smart manufacturing initiatives, implementing standard practices, and managing significant capital projects. This position is integral to the global Manufacturing, Technology, and Engineering organization within Arconic's Rolled Products division, which operates multiple domestic and international manufacturing sites. The role requires a high degree of autonomy in executing assignments, with the primary location being flexible among various operational sites. The position entails travel commitments ranging from 25-50%, including potential international travel, predominantly within North America.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing context.
  • Proficiency in working with large AC/DC motors, industrial high voltage systems, 480VAC power distribution, transformers, automation, and process control systems.
  • Experience in leading and executing electrical projects, including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required, with verification of employment eligibility at the time of hire.
  • This position necessitates access to controlled technology as defined by relevant regulations, with potential government authorization needed for compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience with a solid understanding of electrical systems and manufacturing principles.
  • 5 years of expertise in high voltage electrical equipment, including engineering, design, application specification, maintenance, and failure analysis.
  • Experience supervising personnel involved in implementing engineered solutions and maintenance tasks, ensuring adherence to safety practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Experience in estimating, justifying, managing, and executing capital projects.
  • Expertise in designing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial electrical power and control systems, including transformers, switchgear, and substations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering standards and industry safety regulations.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering, maintenance, and reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and innovative thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage external vendors providing electrical design and support services.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively within a team and across functional groups.
