Job Summary

The Department of Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist Manager to lead the Informatics Branch. This is a critical role that requires technical expertise in informatics, cloud-based data management, analysis, and provisioning, as well as complex system architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and act as the informatics subject matter expert (SME) to the Informatics Branch and Center for Infectious Diseases (CID) information systems.
  • Advise CID leadership on strategic questions related to informatics and system architecture.
  • Collaborate with end users to optimize data provisioning and data access.
  • Engage with developers and system administrators to ensure that data systems interoperate with departmental data warehouse and analytic resources.
  • Lead and support the development of informatics and data exchange processes for clinical and public health infectious disease-related activities.
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality processes and expertise for clinical and public health data.
  • Support administrative functions for informatics projects.
  • Supervise multidisciplinary informatics staff.
Requirements
  • Technical knowledge and experience related to informatics, cloud-based data management, analysis, and provisioning, and complex system architecture.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and act as the informatics SME to the Informatics Branch and CID information systems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain data security and confidentiality processes and expertise for clinical and public health data.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. The incumbent will be headquartered in the county nearest the residence of the selected candidate.
