Independence Wine & Spirits (IWS) operates as a comprehensive distributor of premium wines and spirits, with a focus on delivering a curated selection to both on-premise and off-premise clients.

Our portfolio features a diverse range of wines and spirits sourced from esteemed producers worldwide, representing over 50 distinguished estates and wineries, along with a selection of artisanal spirit distillers.

We maintain direct partnerships with these producers, overseeing the business through both importation and distribution channels within the industry.

Position Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to enhance and expand the sales and distribution of IWS wines and spirits in New York, with a particular emphasis on Italian fine wines.

This position is entirely focused on sales within the metropolitan New York area.


Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Engage, promote, and sell our Italian wines and spirits to a designated customer base in New York.
  • Conduct cold calls to broaden the respective account base.
  • Educate trade partners and consumers about our brands through tastings and events sanctioned by IWS.
  • Perform on-site sales activities, including transporting wine and spirit samples to accounts on a daily basis.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in sales.
  • Strong working knowledge of wines and spirits; experience with imported wines and craft spirits is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated with current account relationships in the wine and spirits sector.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a dynamic, high-energy, team-oriented environment.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in French or Italian is preferred.
