Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Supervisor II, Geomatics


Position Overview:

In this role, you will lead a survey team on various projects, identifying the locations of natural and man-made features on the Earth's surface, as well as underground and underwater, while enjoying the outdoors. The surveys you will engage in encompass boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of-way, transmission line, transportation, construction, and more. Our Geomatics professionals thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced setting, tackling diverse projects that include municipal initiatives, academic institutions, private developments, and beyond.


Key Responsibilities:

In this capacity, you will oversee the management of the field crew, ensuring the quality of work is maintained with a focus on accuracy, thoroughness, and clarity. You will be accountable for adhering to schedules, budgets, and providing responsive service to clients. Your responsibilities will include supervising the operation of surveying and/or SUE instruments and equipment, such as prisms, total stations, global positioning systems (GPS), data collectors, magnetic locators, and ground penetrating radar. Effective communication with clients, project personnel, and the public will be essential. You will represent Catapult in a professional manner, demonstrating integrity, upholding ethical standards, and adhering to safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility locating
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in the field
  • Ability to pass a drug screening
  • Valid Driver's License required; must be able to pass a driving record check
  • Advanced knowledge of Subsurface Utility Engineering and related equipment
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for an employment-based visa

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

You should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the role, which may include squatting, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, navigating challenging terrain, and accessing construction sites in various weather conditions. You should also be capable of frequently moving and operating land surveying equipment.

The Geomatics division at Catapult specializes in capturing, processing, and delivering spatially acquired data through a variety of methods, including traditional land surveying, global positioning systems, laser scanning, and unmanned aerial systems (drones).
