Overview
This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of educational facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for both students and staff. The position serves as a backup for the regular cleaning personnel on an as-needed basis, with hours determined by the institution's requirements.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Ability to see and hear effectively (with or without correction).
- Capability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working from ladders or scaffolding.
- Proficient manual dexterity is necessary.
- Must learn to operate all custodial equipment within 30 days of employment.
- Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning agents is required.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Perform sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, and buffing of floors and stairways.
- Dust and clean furniture, walls, machinery, and equipment.
- Sanitize sinks, restroom fixtures, and mirrors.
- Empty trash receptacles.
- Maintain cleanliness of chalk/white boards.
- Restock supplies in restrooms and other areas as needed.
- Clean drinking fountains.
- Replace light bulbs.
- Clear snow as necessary.
- Control pest issues.
- Arrange furniture and equipment for scheduled events.
- Deliver messages as required.
- Generate supply requests for assigned areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate but can occasionally be loud. The employee may frequently encounter fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.
Travel:
This position does not require travel.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to have full mobility in both upper and lower body; reach overhead; work in various positions including stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods; lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks; and frequently lift or push items weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee is also regularly required to communicate effectively. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
