Job Skills / Requirements

SCOPE: Armed Security Officers play a crucial role in safeguarding the premises, assets, personnel, tenants, and visitors from criminal threats, accidents, and fire hazards. In this role, you will be tasked with protecting one of the state's essential infrastructures: military installations. Your responsibilities will include managing access at all entry and exit points and conducting vehicle patrols around the property. This position offers the chance to collaborate with a team while fulfilling a significant duty.

**Requirements:**

Must possess a current, valid Concealed Pistol License.

**Equipment Provided:**

Firearm, ammunition, holster, and full duty gear belt at no cost.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Armed Security Officer at DK Security, your duties may vary based on the assigned site. Responsibilities may include:

  • Customer Relations: Establishing and maintaining positive interactions with clients, resident families, and visitors.
  • Access Control: Ensuring that only authorized personnel gain entry to the site.
  • Camera Monitoring: Observing CCTV feeds for any safety or security issues.
  • Foot Patrol: Conducting patrols of the interior and exterior of buildings, identifying security, safety, or maintenance concerns.
  • Mobile Patrol: Monitoring parking lots, roadways, building exteriors, and remote areas using a security vehicle.
  • Fire Alarm Monitoring: Verifying the functionality of fire alarms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possess a current, valid Concealed Pistol License.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (some college preferred).
  • Good moral character with the ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Successful completion of a drug test at the time of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Impeccable grooming standards in accordance with company policy.
  • Positive, professional demeanor when interacting with clients, employees, and the public.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various locations.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified (prior certification preferred).
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience in law enforcement, military, or armed security.

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the following:

  • Use hands and fingers to handle objects and tools.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Stand, walk, or sit for 8-12 hour shifts, including walking long distances and navigating stairs.
  • Respond to emergency situations effectively.
  • Work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Hear conversations in noisy environments.
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Flexible availability and willingness to work on short notice.

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED.

Certification Requirements:

Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
