Custodial Substitute

This is a unique opportunity to join the facilities team at Alpena Community College as a Custodial Substitute. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our buildings and facilities.

• Perform a variety of custodial tasks, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors and stairways.
• Dust and clean furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Clean and disinfect sinks, bathroom fixtures, trim, and mirrors.
• Empty waste baskets and replenish supplies as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned, such as cleaning chalk/white boards, changing light bulbs, and shoveling snow.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to lift and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work off ladders or scaffolding.
• Ability to work skillfully with hands.
• Ability to operate all custodial power equipment within 30 days of accepting the position.
• Ability to use cleaning agents in a safe and responsible manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can occasionally be loud. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift or push items weighing up to 50 pounds.
