Waukee Veterinary Clinic is in search of a dedicated and full-time

Licensed Veterinary Technician to enhance our professional team.

Clinic Environment:

This role presents a unique opportunity for a Licensed Technician to integrate into a forward-thinking veterinary practice. Join a team where Licensed Technicians are valued and empowered to utilize their full range of skills.

Operational Hours:

Monday to Friday: 7am - 6pm

Saturday & Sunday: Closed

Compensation Package:

Hourly wage ranging from $22 to $26, with potential increases based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

The following duties are essential to the role and reflect the core expectations:

  • Uphold the Core Values and Mission of the clinic.
  • Guide support staff to ensure smooth operations during shifts.
  • Mentor colleagues for professional growth and skill enhancement.
  • Assist in performance evaluations of team members.
  • Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients.
  • Accurately document all relevant medical and client information.
  • Review medical records and discharge instructions with clients.
  • Address client inquiries regarding basic animal care and procedures.

Additional Duties:

  • Manage client interactions for appointment scheduling and payments.
  • Answer phone calls in a professional manner.
  • Provide feedback for training programs.
  • Participate in training and job shadowing as needed.
  • Engage in special cleaning and maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Identify areas needing attention and ensure cleanliness.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgical, dental, and nursing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Competence in administering injections and monitoring patient recovery.
  • Strong communication skills to explain medications and procedures to clients.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • State licensing as required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the veterinary field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in a dynamic environment with various noise levels.
  • Must possess good vision and hearing abilities.

Travel Requirements:

Minimal travel may be required for educational purposes.
