Overview:
Foothills Pet Healthcare Clinic is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to enhance our medical team.

Salary:
Up to $25/hr

Shift:
Our facility offers a 4-day work week with rotating Saturdays.

Experience:
Previous experience is highly preferred.

Office Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Sunday:
Closed


At Foothills Pet Healthcare Clinic, we provide a comprehensive range of veterinary services for dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and small pets. Our mission is to strengthen the bond between pets and their owners through exceptional medical, surgical, and therapeutic care.

We utilize our team’s expertise to the fullest, offering advanced therapies such as regenerative treatments (Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Therapy). Our services include orthopedic surgeries, physical therapy, underwater treadmill sessions, therapeutic laser treatments, and acupuncture. We also have a robust mentorship program designed to help team members enhance their skills through regular meetings focused on improvement and success.


Job Summary:

The Licensed Veterinary Technician will lead and train medical support staff in accordance with clinic policies while providing essential medical care to patients as permitted by veterinary regulations.

Effective communication with team members and clients, along with strong attention to detail and organizational skills, are crucial for this role.


Responsibilities:

Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.

Guide support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.

Mentor team members for career growth and personal development.

Provide feedback to the hospital manager for employee performance evaluations.

Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.

Maintain excellent communication with clients.


Accurately document all relevant medical, client, and case-related information in patient records using appropriate terminology and grammar.

Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.


Address client inquiries regarding basic animal care and routine procedures; confidently manage medical questions and refer to veterinarians when necessary.


Additional Functions:
Assist with client care, including scheduling appointments, processing payments, and checking in clients.

Answer phones courteously and provide informative responses.

Offer feedback and suggestions for the training program.

Participate in job shadows or working interviews as needed.

Engage in training as required.

Contribute to special cleaning duties.

Assist with clinic maintenance as directed.

Perform equipment upkeep as instructed.

Delegate additional cleaning tasks during slower periods in the absence of a supervisor.

Identify areas needing extra attention.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Proficiency in a variety of skills, including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing.

Ability to remain patient and composed in stressful situations and manage a fast-paced environment.

Ability to maintain calmness and efficiency during medical emergencies.

Capability to administer SQ, IM, and IV injections.


Knowledge of common prescription drugs, including usage, dosage, and side effects, with the ability to explain these to clients.


Understanding of anesthesia and recovery processes, with the ability to alert veterinarians to any changes in hospitalized patients.

Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature, and recover patients from anesthesia.


The employee must possess cognitive skills for reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language (reading, writing, and speaking) to perform duties effectively.

The employee must be comfortable around animals.

Required Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Licensing from the State Department of Regulation is mandatory.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in the veterinary field is required.

Physical Requirements:


The employee must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and more with assistance.


The employee must endure prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking on hard surfaces.

The employee must possess sufficient mobility to perform duties in a clinical environment.


The employee must be able to work in a noisy environment with sounds from animals and equipment.


The employee will frequently interact with various pets that may bite or scratch and may occasionally be exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications.

The employee must be able to hear verbal instructions, client conversations, and veterinary patients.

The employee must have specific vision capabilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


The employee must have good hand-eye coordination and dexterity to operate equipment and use a keyboard.


Travel Required:
Minimal travel may be required for vendor visits and educational opportunities.
