Primary Responsibilities

The Advanced Practice Provider is accountable for delivering comprehensive healthcare services to patients within designated primary or specialty fields. This includes patient assessments, treatment planning, education, and referrals. You will serve as a vital resource and exemplary model for clinical practices, overseeing the training, evaluation, and direct management of practitioners and students to ensure the highest quality of patient care. Additionally, you will assist leadership in evaluating, planning, organizing, and executing advanced practice provider initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN): A Master's Degree in Nursing accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

For Physician Assistants: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors.

Experience:

No prior experience is required; equivalent education and experience may be considered for current employees hired before specified dates.

Licensure/Certification:

Must possess a current healthcare provider CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Maintain all licensing and registration requirements as outlined by relevant medical staff bylaws and credentialing policies.

Current certification in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) must be obtained within 90 days of employment and maintained throughout tenure.

For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses: Current RN licensure from the Texas Board of Nursing or valid Compact RN license, along with current licensure as an APRN with authorization to practice in specified areas.

For Physician Assistants: Valid Physician Assistant licensure from the Texas Board of Physician Assistants and current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Skills and Abilities:

Provide care to the designated patient population in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act or Texas Medical Board Rules, established protocols, and clinical standards. Demonstrate leadership through superior clinical skills and as a resource for practice development. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to motivate and manage change.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform clinical duties in designated specialty areas, including obtaining patient histories, conducting physical examinations, making assessments, and ordering necessary tests.
  2. Document health histories, findings, treatments, and recommendations accurately and clearly. Manage time effectively to optimize patient and provider resources.
  3. Engage patients and families in care planning when appropriate, educating them for self-management and compliance with treatment plans.
  4. Support interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure continuous quality care and promote positive health outcomes, focusing on customer service and patient satisfaction.
  5. Stay informed on the latest developments in the field through seminars, workshops, and professional journals, while participating in educational activities.
  6. Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and policies impacting the respective fields, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
  7. Identify and suggest improvements to work processes to enhance productivity and efficiency, consistently providing quality customer service.
  8. Assist in developing and monitoring departmental goals that align with the overall mission of Parkland.
