Position Overview

The Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within the Child Neurology division to deliver comprehensive care to pediatric patients experiencing neurological issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough initial and ongoing physical assessments tailored to age and diagnosis, including psychological evaluations.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to develop, implement, and assess patient care plans, including the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
  • Exhibit proficiency in technical and procedural skills relevant to the specialty.
  • Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and their families regarding current treatment and preventive health strategies.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives through organized group processes, workshops, and meetings to enhance clinical performance.
  • Collaborate on research projects and protocols, consistently applying best practices to patient care.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in nursing, with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program.
  • Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in pediatric neurology or as a pediatric APP.

Licensure and Certification

  • Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (CPNP-AC or CPNP-PC) or as a Physician Assistant in Texas.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Commitment to maintaining current clinical and technical competencies.
  • Ability to identify and recommend improvements in departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for patient care.

Work Environment

This role is primarily conducted in a clinical setting, with potential exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases.
