Position Overview
The Advanced Practice Provider is accountable for delivering comprehensive healthcare services to patients in specified primary or specialty fields. This role encompasses patient assessment, treatment planning, education, and referrals. As a key resource and mentor, you will guide clinical practices, oversee training, and evaluate both practitioners and students to ensure the highest quality of patient care. Additionally, you will support leadership in the strategic planning and execution of advanced practice provider initiatives.
Educational Requirements
For Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN): A Master’s Degree in Nursing accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is required.
For Physician Assistants: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors is necessary.
Experience
No prior experience is required; however, current employees hired before a specified date may have equivalent education and experience considered.
Licensure and Certification
All candidates must possess a current healthcare provider CPR certification from recognized organizations. It is essential to maintain compliance with licensing and registration standards as outlined by relevant medical bylaws and policies.
For APRNs: A valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license is mandatory, along with the appropriate APRN licensure.
For Physician Assistants: A current, valid Physician Assistant license from the Texas Board of Physician Assistants is required.
Key Competencies
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities through exceptional clinical skills and serve as a resource for practice development. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial. The ability to motivate, recruit, and manage change is essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical duties in designated specialty areas, including obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, and developing treatment plans.
- Document health histories, findings, and treatment recommendations accurately and concisely, managing time effectively to optimize patient and provider resources.
- Engage patients and families in care planning and educate them for self-management and compliance with treatment protocols.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure quality care and promote positive health outcomes.
- Stay informed on the latest advancements in the field through continuous education and participation in professional organizations.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable regulations and policies affecting the practice, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws and guidelines.
- Identify and suggest improvements to work processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental goals that align with the overall mission of Parkland.
