We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to join our team at the Idaho National Laboratory as a National Reactor Innovation Center Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and contribute to the development of advanced reactor systems.

About the Role

The National Reactor Innovation Center Engineer will be responsible for leading technical projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test advanced reactor systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in system engineering, digital engineering, and project coordination, as well as excellent communication and customer interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test advanced reactor systems
  • Develop and maintain system engineering and digital engineering methods and tools
  • Coordinate and manage project activities, including project planning, execution, and closure
  • Interact with customers and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide solutions
  • Work with reactor developers to apply knowledge, practices, and techniques to develop designs for new or modified systems, processes, and specialized equipment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline and 5-8 years relevant engineering experience, or a master's degree and 3-6 years relevant experience
  • Applicable degrees include Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Control's engineering, Aerospace
  • Ability to design, analyze, and evaluate assigned systems
  • Ability to communicate with operations, engineering, nuclear safety, maintenance, and programmatic personnel both verbally and through written products
  • Ability to identify and execute engineering work tasks such as design efforts, maintenance activities, and operating written instructions
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead engineering work
  • Familiarity with digital and systems engineering methods and tools
  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
