Job DescriptionProject Hire (2 year) National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) CREO Design Engineer The Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) CREO design engineer to contribute to our Reactor Project Engineering division. This position operates on a 4x10 schedule, allowing for every Friday off, and is available as a virtual/remote opportunity. The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) invites applications for the role of NRIC CREO Design Engineer. This position serves as the primary technical contact for NRIC project model management and product lifecycle management. You will report directly to the department manager. Key Responsibilities: You will provide engineering support for facility and project digital twin initiatives, aiding in the digital engineering transformation strategy. As part of the Reactor Project Engineering department at MFC, you will support the NRIC project portfolio. INL is recognized as the leading national laboratory for the Department of Energy (DOE), with NRIC testbeds offering unique capabilities for testing pioneering reactor designs. The main functions of this role include:
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on the PTC CREO suite of tools (including piping, cabling, and schematics) to develop designs utilizing fully parametric models along with associated drawings and documentation.
  • Providing system engineering support for projects as assigned by the manager or project lead, facilitating the production of fully parametric designs that support a digital twin.
  • Maintaining the real-time as-built configuration of NRIC projects throughout fabrication and construction modifications.
  • Ensuring adherence to processes and workflows in the PLM system to guarantee that reviews and design verifications are completed correctly.
  • Maximizing the use of digital engineering tools and parametric techniques in the creation of engineering deliverables.
  • Driving the transition to digital engineering tools within the department while ensuring the development and implementation of proper engineering processes, design tools, and configuration management.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • EX0E73 - Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of experience, Master's degree with 1-3 years, or PhD with 0-2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in the PTC CREO suite of tools is essential.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, necessitating U.S. Citizenship.

  • The compensation range for this position is: EX2 - ($75,804 - $155,496)/ EX3 - ($91,008 - $186,588). Compensation decisions at Idaho National Laboratory are based on factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
