Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Reactor Fuels System Engineer to join our Nuclear Safety Analysis department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of advanced reactor fuels systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement advanced reactor fuels designs, taking into account safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough analysis and testing of fuel behavior, including thermal-hydraulic and mechanical performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement fuel cycle strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to support the development of new reactor fuels technologies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in nuclear fuels research and development, applying this knowledge to improve fuel performance and safety.
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, or related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience, or Advanced degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, or related field, with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience includes experience with nuclear fuels fabrication and performance analysis.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience in nuclear fuels and materials, reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, primary design, analysis tools/methods, and closely related technical areas.
