Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Transitions Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities to students with disabilities, with a focus on education, career training, employment, independent living, and community participation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver instructional activities in the classroom and community settings.
  • Modify and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities.
  • Develop relationships with students, parents, and district staff to ensure student success.
  • Participate in the IEP process and collaborate with the Evaluation Team Leader.
  • Manage student behavior using positive behavioral interventions and strategies.
  • Supervise and coordinate the roles of paraprofessionals.
  • Provide embedded training to paraprofessionals and complete related paperwork.
  • Collaborate with district-wide transition staff, specialists, and state agencies.
Qualifications
  • Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license and grade level licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor's degree with appropriate license or Master's degree with content area license preferred.
  • Transition Specialist Endorsement preferred.
  • Previous experience working with secondary students with disabilities preferred.
