Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with autism and other special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of students with autism and other special needs.
  2. Provide direct instruction and support to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms and small group settings.
  3. Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student learning.
  4. Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  5. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  6. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and autism support.
Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  2. Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teacher of Moderate Disability (PK-8) licensure.
  3. Experience working with students with autism and other special needs.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
