Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with moderate disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of students.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in a 1:1 setting.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective educational program.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Appropriate Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure.
  • Experience working with students with moderate disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
