Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools - MA. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student learning.
  • Design and deliver engaging and effective instructional strategies that promote academic, social, and emotional growth in students with special needs.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the changing needs of students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and to enhance teaching skills.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade level (Prek-8) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a public school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on student learning and well-being.
