Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Elementary Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching students with autism and a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism, ensuring that each student receives a tailored education that meets their unique needs and abilities.
  2. Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to provide a comprehensive support system for students with autism, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling services.
  3. Design and deliver engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with autism.
  4. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet the changing needs of each student.
  5. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure that they are informed and involved in their child's education.
  6. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices in special education and autism support.
Requirements
  1. Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  2. Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification in Teacher of Severe or Moderate Disability (PreK-8).
  3. Experience working with students with autism and other special needs.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
