Electrical Engineer for Advanced Navigation Systems

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
We're seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in navigation system design and development for re-usable launch and space vehicle applications. You will lead trade studies to evaluate sensor performance and downselect suitable navigation sensors or technologies for development, integration, qualification, and flight. Your contributions will enable cost-effective, state-of-the-art navigation solutions for launch and space vehicles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading trades on navigation sensor options, configurations, performance evaluation, etc., to guide optimal product specifications that support vehicle architecture.
- Taking ownership of electrical design aspects of navigation sensors, from initial selection to integration, qualification, and installation on the vehicle.
- Supporting the GN&C subsystem stakeholders with a cross-functional mindset to facilitate subsystem and system-level architectural decisions.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including Navigation Systems, Software, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, Production Support engineers, to ensure smooth execution of development efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience. Direct hands-on experience developing complex commercial or aerospace electronic assemblies, designing custom cards, and integrating COTS hardware is required.
Other requirements include:
- Hands-on experience prototyping, debugging, and testing, proficient in using electrical test equipment.
- Cognizance of EMI/EMC standards, DO-160 Environmental Test standards, IEC & automotive standards, or equivalent.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
