Inertial Navigation Systems Engineer

This role is part of Enterprise Engineering (EE), where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. EE allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading Inertial Navigation initiatives across the company, providing IMU/INS expertise, and fostering coordination with all GNC teams. Additionally, they will develop IMU characterization, calibration, qualification, and acceptance tests, manage execution, and analyze results. The successful candidate will also lead the development and guide the implementation of efficient algorithms and models for IMU/INS and sensor fusion projects.
A deep understanding of estimation theory and its application to embedded systems is essential for this role. Strong software development skills in MATLAB or Python are required, as well as experience with GNSS and/or vision-based aiding sources in blended navigation applications. Familiarity with space-based applications and the challenges associated with using sensors in these environments is also desirable.
We offer a competitive salary range of $198,993-$278,590, depending on location. Compensation ranges for California applicants is $198,993.00-$278,590.20; Colorado applicants is $188,427.00-$263,797.80; Washington applicants is $198,993.00-$278,590.20. Other site ranges may differ.
Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays. Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
