This role is part of our Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Navigation Engineer to own the development of on-board navigation software for our crewed and uncrewed lunar vehicles. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of optimal state estimation algorithms for inertial or relative navigation, culminating with their deployment onto a target platform for real-time execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of optimal state estimation algorithms for inertial or relative navigation.
  • Own the development and deployment of embedded navigation software, including sensor interfaces and telemetry management, using C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Verify the navigation software implementation through open-loop and closed-loop Monte Carlo analysis as well as via unit testing.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of processor-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop testing, on-vehicle functional testing, and flight testing.
  • Embody the Blue Origin leadership principles.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $144,480 - $200,416 per year, depending on location and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program. Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
