About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Lead Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Enterprise Engineering organization, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for our spaceflight programs.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on radiation hardening and system performance optimization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of our space-based projects, including mission inception through operation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement electrical system designs that meet or exceed performance requirements in radiation environments.
  • Collaborating with program leadership and engineers to drive intelligent system design, part selection, subcontracts, and analyses.
  • Analyzing the impacts of space radiation environments on components and systems, and deriving and applying radiation mitigation techniques to prevent disruption of system performance.
  • Maintaining Blue's radiation test database and assisting with development and execution of radiation test plans as required.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Nuclear Science, or a related field, and 5+ years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and create electrical schematics and system diagrams.
  • Experience hardening and verifying performance of electrical designs against space radiation effects (total ionizing dose, displacement damage dose, single event effects).
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, basic digital and analog circuit fundamentals, and familiarity with associated laboratory test equipment.
  • Ability to specify and support PCB bring-up and operational procedures for test.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications

While not required, we prefer candidates with:

  • Direct experience in radiation design, analysis, and testing of avionics hardware for operation in radiation environments.
  • Basic electronics lab skills, including soldering, harnessing, use of oscilloscope, multimeter, and logic analyzer.
  • Experience with PCB design and layout (Altium or similar preferred).
  • Proficiency with scripting (Python) and automation development.
Compensation and Benefits

This is a highly competitive salary position, with a compensation range of $136,800.00 - $191,520.00 per year, depending on location. Additional benefits include:
