Strategic Development and Community Engagement Director

The Development and Community Relations Manager (DCRM) is a leadership position at HomeWord, responsible for driving revenue growth through exceptional donor cultivation, stewardship, and community engagement. This role plays a critical part in elevating the organization's visibility, fostering meaningful relationships with donors, and identifying new community partners.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement annual strategic plans for fundraising and community relations, focusing on elevating the organization's mission and impact, increasing fundraising revenue, and fostering community relationships.
- Create monthly gift reports, provide regular updates to the board of directors, and lead the Fundraising Committee.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategic ways to increase fundraising revenue and cultivate meaningful relationships with donors.
- Oversee the production of electronic and print solicitations for two annual appeals, Summer and Winter, and develop a system of gift acknowledgments to ensure timely and meaningful thank you letters, phone calls, and notes.
- Build relationships with new and existing donors and prospects through excellent stewardship and opportunities for greater involvement as volunteers, fundraising committee members, and other possibilities.
- Serve as the leader and project manager for Empty Bowls, HomeWord's signature fundraising event, and organize additional events, such as small donor gatherings and special events.
- Represent HomeWord to community organizations, identify opportunities for community engagement, and recruit volunteers through community relations activities.
- Identify opportunities for media coverage of HomeWord, prepare press releases, and coordinate related activities.
- 4-year degree required.
- 5-7 years of professional fundraising experience, or a combination of experience in a related field.
- Commitment to working in a mission-driven nonprofit organization.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in project management.
- Commitment to teamwork and respect for varying points of view.
- Skills to manage multiple priorities and activities.
- Experience with CRM software.
- Knowledge of challenges and needs commonly facing people living in poverty.
- Commitment to cultivating a welcoming organizational culture that includes supporting members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and upholding anti-racism policies and procedures.
